Do you or a family member have an eye infection? The health of your eyes is of paramount importance. When something is wrong, you’ll be glad to know that help from your preferred optometrist for eye infections is just a quick phone call away. Whether you need a Bridgeport optometrist or are in search of a Stratford optometrist, you can rest assured that the team at Family Vision Center will quickly determine what is wrong with your eyes and then come up with a customized treatment plan made just for you.

Symptoms of Eye Infections

Eye infections can be quite varied. Generally, optometrists find patients suffering from symptoms in their conjunctiva (the area covering your eye’s outer layer and the insides of each eyelid), the cornea and the eyelid.

Symptoms of eye infections include:

  • Blurry vision
  • Constant tearing of eyes
  • Crusty eyelashes and eyelids (often when the patient wakes up in morning)
  • Discharge from eyes (clear, green or yellow)
  • Eye hurts under bright lighting (suffering from light sensitivity)
  • Eyelids are tender when touched
  • It feels like something is in or on the surface of your eye
  • Itchy eyes
  • Lump felt under the eyelid or at the base of the eyelashes
  • Profound discomfort or pain

This list is not meant to be comprehensive, so if you have any other symptoms not listed here, please connect with our office to learn how we might help with your eye infection.

Your Optometrist Will Conduct a Thorough Eye Exam Before Treating the Infection

After your initial consultation, the optometrist will give you a thorough examination. Once we learn the cause of the infection, it’s time to come up with a targeted solution. Your treatment plan will be personalized just for your condition. The optometrist may recommend over-the-counter eye drops, for example. Ointments or compresses are other options for your at-home care over the following days.

If the infection is more serious, prescription eye drops may be called for. Our staff here at Family Vision Center has 50 years of combined experience in patient care and we will quickly come up with a solution for your eye infection.
