Loyal Family Vision Center Patient, Laura Fazekas, Recognizes Her 45th Year with the Practice

A patient at Family Vision Center for over 44 years, Laura Fazekas is the epitome of customer loyalty. Laura recalls being 12 years old and venturing to the Bridgeport office for her routine visits with Dr. Michael Gorman, Family Vision Center’s Founder. Dr. Gorman’s high level of patient care, combined with his innate kindness, built the foundation of Laura’s dedicated relationship to the family practice.

Dr. Gorman

“Dr. Gorman was patient, explained everything he was doing thoroughly and always took the time to educate me on the tests he was performing to make me feel at ease. I was never rushed and felt like his only patient of the day,” said Laura. “Whether I was 12 or 55, Dr. Gorman treated me with respect and, above all, genuine kindness. He was the reason I kept coming back year after year.”

Dr. Burns

When Dr. Gorman announced his retirement earlier this year, Laura began seeing Dr. Shawn Burns. She initially thought it would be near impossible to find an optometrist who could rival Dr. Gorman’s unmatched patient care, but Dr. Burns made the transition effortless. Right away, Laura recognized Dr. Burns’ ability to put the patient first. The more Laura got to know Dr. Burns, the more she noticed the way he worked collectively with the four other TPA-certified optometrists, utilizing Dr. Gorman’s valued mentorship and his own background to employ the most innovative, state-of-the-art technology and techniques.

As a patient with diabetes, Laura certainly appreciates the use of innovative medical practices and testing. Aside from her routine visits, Laura receives proactive specialized testing to ensure the disease isn’t affecting her vision. Both doctors work diligently to educate Laura on the correlation between diabetes and her eye care to provide her comfort and the necessary knowledge to keep her vision healthy.

Family Vision Center Staff

Aside from the valued doctor/patient relationships she’s built at Family Vision Center, Laura appreciates many other facets of the practice that keep her returning time after time. Celebrating 50 years in business this year, Family Vision Center touts an experienced and dedicated staff. Laura finds everyone at the practice to be pleasant and accommodating, from the time she calls to make her appointment to the end of the visit when she walks out with her new glasses created directly on-site.

“It’s always just clicked with Family Vision Center, mostly because of the remarkable doctors, but also because of the convenience. They have later hours to cater to every patient’s needs and the wait time is never long,” said Laura. “And not only do I walk out that day with my glasses, but the selection offered is very attractive and affordable.”

Laura’s experience has been so profound that she made eye care a family affair. She began bringing her two daughters for routine exams and her husband has been a patient for 15 years. A practice where patients and their families matter most, Laura continues to feel embraced by that mission and attributes her loyalty and longevity to Family Vision Center’s ability to consistently put her—the patient—first.
